About Us

The Founders

Liver Kids Australia was founded in 2013 by two Canberra based families and their daughters, Alexandra and Cordelia (and Cordelia's big sister Octavia), are the faces of the association. Both girls are liver transplant recipients (Allie in 2012 and Cordelia in 2008) and share a bond created by this experience. When Allie's parents were looking to start up an organisation to promote awareness of childhood liver disease, the Liver Team at the Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) suggested they get in touch with Cordelia's parents and this led to the formation of Liver Kids Australia.

Allie's mum, Claire and Cordelia's mum, Rachel, undertake most of the work involved in running Liver Kids. They are really passionate about advocating for community awareness about liver disease and organ transplants in children, as well as raising money for the cause. Something that they are proudest of so far is being able to support families who are going through the transplant process and connecting families who have shared the same experiences.
